Second Sunday School updates and action items
We're going to use this post as a clearinghouse for action items for our Second Sunday School folks! We'll add to it as we have more items that require action.
One thing that makes a difference and is a fairly easy and accomplishable task is making calls to our elected representatives. The 5Calls app is a great resource for this, providing topics, background on those topics, scripts you can use, and one-click links to the phone numbers you need. Here is a link:
We have found it helpful to make a list of what topics we'd like to cover each day, marking which topic is appropriate for which representative, and letting them know we have a list. Share your name, zip code, and email address. Asking for a response is also a good way to ensure you know how your rep feels about a certain issue.
Calling is the most effective way to share with our elected reps, but emailing and postcarding is also an effective way to reach out.
Another easy-to-use app, this one for sending emails, faxes, and letters to reps, is Resistbot. Here is a link to the website:
Here is the link to Congress, if you'd like to contact your representatives in different ways:

We recommend incorporating this into your daily rituals. Shannon likes to do this in the morning before the majority of her family wakes up, with a cup of coffee and a notebook in front of her.
And, we'd like to encourage y'all to share encouraging thoughts with elected officials as well as your criticisms/hopes for change. Lorajean has been doing that, and it feels so good to give a pep talk too!
