Save the Date: LYS Day, 4/27!
We are very excited to be celebrating LYS Day this year, both as a wholesaler with a special LYS Day colorway that we are sending to our LYS partners AND as a retailer, here at Craft Emporium, with a local dyer of plant-based yarns, To Love and Dye!
To Love and Dye is a Portland-based indie dyer of vegan yarn. Cara, the dyer, shared the following with us:
I started hand dyeing cellulose-based yarn last year because I was so disappointed that I could never find gorgeous hand dyed yarn in animal-free fibers. I had years of tie-dye experience, so I pivoted to dyeing plant based yarn, and after a little trial and error started loving the process!
To Love and Dye is based on the theory that using vegan yarn shouldn't feel inferior to animal fibers. I source the softest, fluffiest organic cotton, smooth and luxe pima cotton, and silky, shiny Tencel and bamboo yarn. Then I dye this lovely, touchable yarn in vibrant variegated colors that put dishcloth cotton yarn to shame!
