Friends April Perk!

It's time for our April perk, Friends of Knitted Wit's Craft Emporium, and our cable queen friend, Makenzie Alvarez, is our April featured maker!

She couldn’t decide on which sock to give to the members…so she is allowing y'all to pick which ever cabled sock they want to make, YAY!!!

Use code “Cables” and get 1 copy of any cabled sock pattern on Ravelry or Payhip. Code valid through 5/31.

And, access her cable video here: https://youtu.be/yv2XJrTO0wA

What is your favorite thing to make?

That is really hard! I love anything with cables and I am slowly falling more and more in love with brioche. As for finished pieces my go to's are knit socks, shawls, and cowls. I am always cold and I love creating and wearing all the layers. My hope is to one day dive more into garments and hopefully love those just as much.

What is your favorite thing about making?

I love the creativity and the fact it brings me zen. I have an art background and I feel that being creative is just part of who I am. I went from a canvas and paint medium, to the challenge of composing knitted fabric with strings and sticks.

What is your go-to comfort/junk food?

Thats hard I don't know if I have a favorite. For salty treats, I am a sucker for cheese popcorn and kettle chips. For a rare sweet treat I can’t say no to good chocolate or to a chocolate chip cookie.

Any book/podcast/comic/etc recommendations?

I listen to a lot of podcasts and books while I work/knit, anything from thriller and suspense, to history and politics.

I recently finished a great book, The Watchmaker's Daughter by Larry Loftis, based on a Dutch watchmaker who saved the lives of hundreds of Jewish people during WWII.

Or if fiction is more your thing and enjoy a great thriller and solving crimes, Triptych by Karin Slaughter, is a page turner!
