Making Garments with Quilting Cotton: Karen's Faves

We love making here at Craft Emporium, and one of the things we love making is garments. Having a hand-made wardrobe, and being able to create the clothing that we love and that fits us well and is fun to make and wear is very important to all of us. One of our favorite fabrics to use is quilting cotton: it makes great clothing!

Check out our selection of quilting cottons here, and make sure you spend a bit of time in our clearance section: there's always quilting cotton available!

Today, Karen is sharing some of her fave quilting cotton garments with us. Take it away, Karen!

Sew Liberated Gypsum Skirt

I have made both versions of this pattern several times! Quilting cotton is perfect for a lightweight skirt, and the extra big pocket version is so fun to wear! Get the pattern here!

Upton Dress

This is my dream dress! I searched for the perfect pattern to use my collection of cotton prints, and this one met all of my requirements: pockets, fitted bodice, full skirt, and lots of options for customization within the patterns and through expansion packs. Get the pattern here!

Helen’s Closet York Pinafore

Such a simple pattern and great with different fabrics! I’ve made several with quilting cotton to wear as dresses. Get the pattern here!

Seamwork Clarke

I’ve only made this top once, but it has options to cut your fabric on the bias, for more drape, or straight. I’d recommend adding length, especially with quilting cotton to get more drape! Get the pattern here!
